img_0309-copyYou can work at the dog shelter in Odell exercising and socializing dogs Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 7 PM or Saturday/Sunday 8:30 – 10 AM and 5:30 – 7 PM. Volunteer as little or as much as you’d like. We provide an orientation, training and the opportunity to work with a great group of volunteers and lots of different dogs!

If you don’t want to work directly with the dogs we have many other volunteer opportunities like fundraising, office/admin work, shelter improvement projects, or grant research. The list is never ending.

To become a volunteer, you must first fill out the Volunteer application form and either email it to hoodriveradoptadog@gmail.com, or mail it to Volunteer Coordinator, Adopt A Dog Inc. c/o Hukari Animal Shelter 3910 Heron Drive, Hood River, OR 97031, or you can also drop it by the shelter.

After receiving your application, our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to schedule your volunteer orientation. If you have any questions please email our Volunteer Coordinator at hoodriveradoptadog@gmail.com.

Hood River County Sheriff’s office may complete a background check on all volunteers.

As you complete different training levels, your opportunity for working in different capacities at the shelter will expand.
